Chelsea Clinton weds at exclusive New York estate

Chelsea Clinton, Marc Mezvinsky AP – People wait for a bus to depart the Delamater Inn to go to Chelsea Clinton's and Marc Mezvinsky's wedding …

RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Chelsea Clinton married her longtime boyfriend Saturday night at an exclusive estate along New York's Hudson River.

Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton announced in a statement that their daughter wed investment banker Marc Mezvinsky after weeks of secrecy and buildup that had celebrity watchers flocking to the small village of Rhinebeck for the evening nuptials.

"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends," the Clintons said. "We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."

More than 400 guests were expected at the historic estate. Details of the wedding were kept fanatically close to the vest, with shopkeepers, innkeepers, vendors and restaurateurs sworn to secrecy.

Officials restricted airspace over the estate, and the area will remain a no-fly zone until 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Roads were also blocked off, and inconvenienced neighbors were soothed with a complimentary bottle of wine.

Some of the celebrities spotted in Rhinebeck for the event included actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, fashion designer Vera Wang and Madeleine Albright, who was secretary of state during Bill Clinton's second term as president.

The wedding took place at Astor Courts, a secluded estate along the Hudson River built as a Beaux Arts style playground for John Jacob Astor IV more than a century ago. The estate features the sort of commanding view that once inspired Hudson River School painters, as well as 50 acres of buffer space to shield the party from prying eyes.

Chelsea Clinton and Mezvinsky were friends as teenagers in Washington, and both attended Stanford University. They now live in New York, where Mezvinsky works at G3 Capital, a Manhattan hedge fund. Mezvinsky worked previously at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker.

Clinton completed her master's degree in public health earlier this year at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.

Mezvinsky is a son of former U.S. Reps. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky of Pennsylvania and Ed Mezvinsky of Iowa, longtime friends of the Clintons. His parents are divorced.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. However nothing like a bad bra (or lack of one ) to spoil a good dress.

Man, she's dog-ugly. Move over Amy Carter. People who are buck-toothed and wide-mouthed should not also become anorexic to where their face is sunken in and accentuates their ugly features. Give me a bag to puke in. Only thing going for her is her dress.

In reply to the following comment on my post which mention the disaster caused by BP,in

which it was suggested that since I was an unhappy "US camper" that I should move to the UK

which I find a quite amusing suggestion!
Burr, FYI : I came from the UK as a child and have no interest in returning there as the UK

has gone down the tubes as we are preparing to do
.There are many unhappy US campers so do you suggest we all up an exit to the countries of

our origin even if we are legal, naturalized citizens? Are we not allowed the same privilege

of "Free Speech," accorded to natural born citizens like even those born of illegal

immigrants who didn't pay the fees and pass the citizenship test?
What I am saying is that maybe America should note the downhill slide of the UK and maybe

learn from history. Also, saying that it seems destroying the environment doesn't matter as

long as BP and other big corporate entities can offer financial gain to the countries

involved and to the shareholder. BP could give a @#$% about the damage they caused and if

they had so much technical expertise why did they take so many shortcuts and avoid certain

tests. It should not have taken as long to fix the problem if they had this expertise. My

husband worked in the refineries in Saudi and couldn't believe how they bungled the job.

Answer me this question, please, if you can. Why did our President not avail himself of help

offered by various corporations and countries that have as much if not more expertise and

assets as BP? He can manage to get his agenda through Congress so why could he not manage to

override the Jones Act in order to allow these foreign entities to come and help in the Gulf

catastrophe. You may think the problem is solved, but the real extent of damage has not been

felt yet.Pres. Obama said that this disaster was the same as a war. In that case one takes

help from those who over to help defend the attack, doesn't one. I am glad that you think

they are so altruistic and are really going to take responsibility for the mess they have

made. I wonder how many of the people in Louisiana feel the same as you do. I don't believe

that they will agree with you and neither do I believe future generations of them will. Ever

watch the movies or the books "Brave New World," or "1984?" You wouldn't agree with the

scenarios portrayed in them anyway, since you seem to have such great faith in big

    corporations' intentions!
